Quick Features

Quick Features are an option within Orbitas Field that allow you to collect Polylines and Polygons quickly and easily. Once collected you can then add attributes to these features based on your configuration.

Overview of the Quick Feature Menu:

  1. PLAY icon : Use this icon to START collection of a polygon or polyline
  2. POLYLINE icon : Use this icon to select Polyline for collection typre (BLUE= selected) (GREY= NOT selected)
  3. POLYGON icon: Use this icon to select Polyline for collection typre (BLUE= selected) (GREY= NOT selected)
  4. QUICK FEATURE SETTINGS icon : Use this icon to enter into the Quick Feature settings menu
  5. STOP icon: Use this icon to stop collection of a Quick Feature

*NOT PICTURED:
PAUSE icon (appears after start of collection) : Use this icon to pause collection of a Quick Feature.

Collecting a Polyline:

( quick feature "Line" )

To begin collecting a Polyline, select the QF (Quick Feature) icon and choose the Line Icon.

  1. Click on the QF Settings icon and adjust your frequency and distance buffer if necessary
  2. Click on the Quick Features in the top right to get back to the Quick Feature screen
  3. Click on the PLAY icon to begin collecting your Polyline.
  4. Walk your desired path. You will see the line you are creating as you walk, and there will be an audible tone.
  5. Use the PAUSE icon to "pause" your collection if necessary, press PLAY to continue, or STOP to end collection.
  6. Fill out any features necessary based on your configuration and click the + icon to save and add your feature.
  7. Click on the QF icon to return to the main map screen of Orbitas Field.

*Using the PAUSE will the give your line a more ridged structure as you are pausing on each vertex. This may NOT be the most accurate way to map your Polyline asset. Instead simply adjust your frequency and "walk" your feature to ensure accurate collection. Keep in mind your current accuracy as you collect.

Collecting a Polygon:

( quick feature "Area" )

To begin collecting a Polygon, select the QF (Quick Feature) icon and choose the Polygon Icon.

  1. Click on the QF Settings icon and adjust your frequency and distance buffer if necessary
  2. Click on the Quick Features in the top right to get back to the Quick Feature screen
  3. Click on the PLAY icon to begin collecting your Polygon.
  4. Walk your desired path. You will see the line you are creating as you walk, and there will be an audible tone.
  5. Use the PAUSE icon to "pause" your collection if necessary, press PLAY to continue, or STOP to end collection.
  6. Fill out any features necessary based on your configuration and click the + icon to save and add your feature.
  7. Click on the QF icon to return to the main map screen of Orbitas Field.

**Using the PAUSE feature will allow you to collect precise vertices for boundary marking, road lines, building footprints, and more.
