Spring has arrived and March is nearly over, but before we look ahead at what April has in store we’d like to reflect on what March had to offer; where we’ve gone, who we met, and what we learned.
We kicked off our 2025 conference tour at TechAdvantage, where we met industry leaders and explored the most recent innovations and strategies that promise to push the electric cooperative industry forward. We also ran into old friends and visited the booth of our long-time business partner, Milsoft Utility Solutions.
Later that week we stayed close to home for the Georgia Geospatial Association's (GGA) Flight Day in Athens, where Joel Logan from the Jackson County GIS department gave a compelling presentation on how drone technology has benefited their GIS program and local government’s decision-making over the past eight years. Joel offered basic tips and tricks when using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and highlighted their role in tracking construction progress, roof inspections, and 3D analysis.
GGA’s Drone Chair, Brody Baer, followed Joel’s presentation with important legislative updates currently going through the House and Senate and offered tips on starting an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) program. We then stepped outside to fly some drones in the Lyndon House Arts Center yard.
We ended our March adventures with a quick trip to Montgomery, Alabama for the Alabama Rural Water Association conference. It was there that we met up with Toby Cook, co-owner of our newest business partner, C&C Maintenance Supply. While we’ve provided the utility and natural resources industries with geospatial data collection tools and software for decades, we’re excited about how our solutions can meet the needs of the water industry.
