Utilizing Asteri GNSS receivers within ESRI ArcGIS Survey123 on Android

This article discusses using an Asteri GNSS receiver within ESRI ArcGIS Survey123 for high precision location collection.  

Device and Software versions used:

  • Asteri X3i GNSS Receiver
  • Android Galaxy A16 5G Phone
  • Android Version 14
  • ESRI ArcGIS Survey123 version 3.23.36

Pairing the Asteri Xi-Series GNSS Receiver to an Android device

  1. Turn on the Asteri receiver and place in clear view of the sky before you begin pairing to your Android device.
  2. Open up the main settings within your Android device
  3. Select CONNECTIONS
  4. Select BLUETOOTH
  5. Ensure Bluetooth is ON
  6. Look for “ASTERI-(last 4 of SN)” in the list of Available Devices, and select it to connect.
  7. You will receive a request to pair. Select PAIR
  8. Your Asteri GNSS device is now paired to your Android device

Utilizing Asteri GNSS within ArcGIS Survey123

  1. Launch the Survey123 app on your Android device and sign in if required. 
  2. Click on the Menu icon. 
  3. Select Location settings
  4. Click on ADD Location Provider
  5. Select Bluetooth as the connection type
  6. Select the Asteri from the list of available providers

The Asteri GNSS device is now being utilized within Survey123. Proceed to use Survey123 as normal.
